Modeling Factors Affecting Unemployment Duration Using Survival Analysis

Authors

Abstract:

Abstract. In many statistical studies‎, ‎we are faced with variables such as duration of unemployment‎, ‎duration of illness to death‎, ‎the lifespan of a piece‎, ‎duration of approval of a bill in the parliament‎, ‎and other similar cases‎. ‎In such studies‎, ‎the aim is to find and model the sources that affect the duration of the study period to control the mentioned period by identifying and changing the sources of risk‎. ‎In this paper‎, ‎the concepts of survival analysis have been used to model the factors affecting the duration of unemployment‎. ‎To investigate the effects of explanatory variables on the duration of unemployment‎, ‎the Cox proportional hazard model and frailty have been used‎. ‎The data of this study were collected to investigate the effect of gender‎, ‎age‎, ‎education level‎, ‎and marital status as predictor variables affecting the duration of unemployment‎. ‎The sample includes 546 people with information about the start date and end date of the unemployment period for each person from the beginning of April 1397 to the beginning of April 1398‎. ‎The results show that the length of the unemployment period is affected by variables such as education level‎, ‎gender‎, ‎and marital status‎.

Factors affecting the antimonial treatment duration rate in patients with cutaneous leishmaniasis: survival analysis model

Background: Currently, cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) as a parasitic disease is treated with Glucantime and Pentostam in most of the endemic countries. This study aimed to identify factors affecting the glucantime therapy duration rate in patients with CL using a survival analysis model. Methods: This retrospective descriptive-analytic study was conducted on 1017 CL patients that were referred t...

Application of Survival Tree Model in Determining Affecting Factors in Breastfeeding Duration

Background and Purpose: Survival tree model is a nonparametric method which can be used to identify the affecting factors from a specific time to the onset of an event. In this method, the categories are selected according to the most important factors. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors affecting the duration of breastfeeding in mothers and introduce the homogeneous subgrou...

Palatally Impacted Canines – Factors Affecting Treatment Duration

A relationship between the duration of orthodontic treatment and the exact position of palatally impacted canines before treatment was studied in panoramic radiographs (OPG). Material and Method: Sixty-seven palatally impacted canines were measured in 54 OPGs prior to treatment. The measured parameters were: vertical distance of the canine crown tip to the occlusal plane, inclination of palatal...
